Cazenovia College President Mark Tierno and Onondaga Community College (OCC) President Casey Crabill, Ed.D., formally signed a “2+2 partnership agreement” on July 22, 2014 at a ceremony held on the OCC campus in Syracuse, NY. Effective immediately, students can register for the new 2+2 program, which will require completion of two years of prescribed coursework at Onondaga to earn an associate degree, and then continue on at Cazenovia to earn a bachelor’s degree at Cazenovia College in two additional years.
The agreement covers 13 degree programs at OCC, including Business Administration, Interior Design, and Photography; and 26 degree programs at Cazenovia College including Criminal Justice, Human Services, Studio Art, Visual Communications, Interior Design and Management programs.
“Students will appreciate the value of completing their associate’s degree at Onondaga Community College and transferring to Cazenovia College to complete their bachelor’s degree,” said President Mark Tierno. “This college partnership provides a clear path to completion and is a cost-effective approach for today’s college student.”
“We are thrilled to continue to strengthen our partnership with Cazenovia College,” said Onondaga President Dr. Casey Crabill. “Students pursuing a four-year degree have the ability to start with a firm foundation at Onondaga and continue their education with a seamless transfer to Cazenovia College. We are proud to partner with Cazenovia and to offer students an affordable pathway from an associate degree to a baccalaureate degree.”
Students enrolled in the 2+2 partnership will receive academic advising from both Onondaga and Cazenovia throughout the program. “Faculty and staff at both OCC and Cazenovia College will work with each student individually throughout the process,” shared Dr. Tierno who was joined at the signing ceremony by two outstanding Cazenovia College students – Ryan Gavin of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jennifer Desmarais, of Cicero, N.Y. – both of whom represent the positive results of attending OCC and then transferring to Cazenovia College.
With today’s signing Onondaga now has 2+2 agreement with seven schools: Cazenovia College, University at Buffalo, SUNY Alfred, Syracuse University, St. John Fisher College, Le Moyne College, and SUNY Potsdam. Cazenovia College has similar agreements with Mohawk Valley Community College, Herkimer College, Monroe Community College, and Hudson Valley Community College.
