Cazenovia College Sport Management Students Team Up with Syracuse Stingers

Management students and ZAC to volunteer at April 13th Pro Lacrosse Invitational

(April 10, 2014) – Students from Cazenovia College’s Management - Sport Management program are once again stepping out into the local community to volunteer their time and efforts in support of a professional sports organization.  Led by Assistant Professor and Program Director, Dr. Michelle Brimecombe, the following students will be working with the Syracuse Stingers staff at this year’s Pro Lacrosse Invitational on Sunday, April 13.

The all-day event, to be held at the OnCenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, N.Y., will feature games between the Syracuse Stingers, Boston Blazers, and the Vermont Voyageurs with doors opening at 10:00 a.m.
 
Game 1 (11 a.m.) Syracuse Stingers vs. Vermont Voyageurs
Game 2 (1:30 p.m.) Vermont Voyageurs and the Boston Blazers
Game 3 (4 p.m.) Syracuse Stingers vs. Boston Blazers
 
According to Dr. Brimecombe, “The Stingers and Mr. Powless have been gracious enough to allow students within the Sport Management Program to gain hands-on experience and the opportunity to work on pre-event marketing and brand awareness while applying what they are learning in the classroom to a wonderful event.  Our students will be assisting with in-game promotions, logistics, mascot duties and customer service during the event itself, while providing an overall quality experience for all in attendance on April 13th.”
 
Zac and Stinger at Cazenovia College's Christakos Field“Pro Lacrosse has been around Syracuse since the 1930’s,” shared Neal Powless, owner of the Stingers.  “I am excited to be a part of bringing pro lacrosse back to undoubtedly one of the premier lacrosse markets. We have some of the best players right here in Syracuse and I hope sports fans can come out and support this local product.”
 
The Syracuse Stingers Pro Lacrosse Invitational, on April 13th, demonstrates sport has the power to bring the local community together to support a local product. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m.  Tickets are available at The Solvay Bank Box Office at the OnCenter (315-435-8000), Onondaga Nation Arena (315-498-6813), and online at Ticketmaster.
