Cazenovia College students and faculty introduce the wonders of biology and chemistry to youth in the community
Cazenovia, N.Y. (Oct. 9, 2013) – Cazenovia College students and faculty will present “SCIENCE IS FUN!” with demonstrations and hands-on activities for children ages 5 to 12 on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place at Cazenovia College, in Eckel Hall (Rooms 204 and 208) on Lincklaen Street in Cazenovia.
Sponsored by the College’s Environmental and Education Clubs, and the Syracuse Section of the American Chemical Society, this free program is designed to introduce young people to the wonders of biology and chemistry in ways they can easily understand. Below are some of the activities planned for the Oct. 24 event:
• Live fish and fish identification activities/games, including Fish Twister game
• Making glow-in-the-dark slime
• Tree leaf and seed games
• Creating a bouncing ball from cornstarch, Elmer’s glue, and another household chemical
• Microscopic pond life
• Studying the properties of dry ice
• Identification of different creatures based on their skulls
Cookies and juice will be provided! Free parking is available in the College’s Seminary Street parking lot, on Lincklaen Street, and at the Athletic Complex parking lot at the end of Liberty Street.
