2015-2016 Need Based Financial Aid
March 1st - Cazenovia College’s Priority Deadline for filing the FAFSA
Beginning January 1st – Complete and electronically submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. We encourage you to file the FAFSA electronically at www.fafsa.gov. If you prefer a paper FAFSA, please call the Enrollment Services Center at 1-800-654-3210.
We recommend that you have your completed 2014 Federal tax returns available when completing the online FAFSA application as providing estimates may cause delays or changes in your financial aid award. If you do not have your 2014 Federal tax returns completed, use estimates from your 2014 documentation or from your 2013 Federal tax returns.
Filing the FAFSA Application is FREE and will initiate both the Federal and New York State (for New York State residents) financial aid processes. Once the application has been processed, students who provide a valid email address will receive an email with a secure URL, linking them to their electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) information. Students who do not provide a valid email address will receive a SAR acknowledgement at their home address. The SAR is the output document the Federal Processor sends to students who file a complete FAFSA. The institutions you indicated on the application will also receive your SAR information electronically. If you are unable to file an electronic FAFSA, please send the original application to us for processing and keep a copy for your records. We must have the original paper FAFSA in order to submit it for you.
Cazenovia College will verify the financial information for students applying for Federal student aid. During this process, we will request you obtain an IRS transcript (www.irs.gov) of your 2014 tax filing, copies of 2014 W-2’s, a verification worksheet and other necessary documentation of income as needed. To expedite this process, you do have the option when filing your electronic FAFSA to allow your IRS tax information to be matched with your FAFSA data. This will result in less paperwork you will have to forward to the College.
After we receive the results from your online FAFSA, and you have been admitted to the College, a Financial Aid Award Letter will be sent to you with a summary of your financial aid package clearly outlining all available sources of financial assistance. Admitted new students will receive their award on a rolling basis after March 1st; returning Cazenovia College students will begin receiving their award letters after Memorial Day. Priority funding will be given to those students who submit the FAFSA by March 1st.
