Cazenovia College Statement of Ethics
The following protections must be ensured for all research participants:
- Participants are protected from psychology harm (including loss of dignity, loss of autonomy, and loss of self-esteem)
- Participants’ privacy and confidentiality are protected.
- Participants are protected against unjustifiable deception.
- Participants must give voluntary informed consent.

The Cazenovia College Statement of Ethics is based on guidelines provided by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Code 45 CFR 46.101(b). [ View code ]

Online Ethics Tutorial
The National Institute of Health provides a free online course in Protecting Human Research Participants. Faculty members are encouraged to take this course before submitting proposals to the IRB. Additionally, faculty may require or encourage students to take this tutorial. A printable certificate is made available upon completion of the course.
