| 1824 Bell |

|
Acquired through Cazenovia College’s first fundraising campaign, the 1824 Bell originally hung in the cupola of the school’s first building, the former Madison County courthouse. Beginning in 1852, the bell was located in Tower Hall. Following a fire in 1959 which destroyed Tower Hall, the bell was housed in the cupola of Coleman Hall. In 2007, following the Times & Chimes campaign, the 1824 Bell was moved to its current location in the bell tower on the Quad.
Did You Know... Traditionally rung to commemorate special events, the 1824 Bell now tolls for Academic Convocation, Commencement and other significant ceremonies.

| Academic Convocation |

First-year students are formally welcomed to Cazenovia College during the Academic Convocation ceremony. The entire freshman class marches together, just as the graduating class traditionally does for Commencement. Speakers include the President, Dean of the Faculty, and College Chaplain. Freshmen may discover Convocation as a tradition shared with their classmates, a "bookend" for their Cazenovia experience that mirrors Commencement, and the first of many events marking their college journey.
Did You Know... Academic Convocation includes a procession down Liberty Street that leads to the Quad for the ceremony.

| Battle of the Airbands |

In the late 1980’s, Battle of the Airbands first debuted at Cazenovia College. Inspired by the television program Puttin’ on the Hits and held every April, this program features Cazenovia students producing a dynamic variety of lip-synch musical numbers. “Guest Artists” have included the Salt ‘n Pepa, Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne, Lady Gaga, The Weather Girls, Britney Spears and even Miley Cyrus.
Did You Know... This event became so popular, it out grew the capacity of Catherine Cummings Theatre. It is currently held in the Schneeweiss Athletic Complex in order to accommodate the 350+ crowd.

| Class Gifts |

A long-standing Caz tradition and a part of the Annual Fund, Class Gifts unite each class by encouraging students to give something back to their future alma mater. Donors are honored in the Cazenovia College Annual Report, but the real reward is in knowing that these gifts help support financial aid, academic programs and student activities.
Did You Know... The Class of 2010 has already achieved 32% participation, raising over $1,000 to date.

| December Tea |

The December Tea, honoring those students who are eligible for graduation following each fall semester, harks back to the Cazenovia College tradition of afternoon teas, which were popular during the tenure of Dean Winnie Coleman. Speakers for the December Tea include the Dean of the Faculty, President and College Chaplain.
Did You Know... December graduates are encouraged to participate in Commencement the following spring.

| Fashion Show |

In 1973, the first Fashion Show debuted at Cazenovia College. Every spring, Fashion Promotion students produce the fashion show, including planning, set-up and back-stage details to showcase individual student designs and to highlight Senior Capstone collections. Attendance in 2009 topped 800, compelling organizers to add a matinee show in 2010, with total attendance for the two shows reaching close to 1200.
Did You Know... Distinguished guests have included Ms. Betsy Hilfiger of Tommy Hilfiger USA, Inc. and Crystal Lewis `06 of Macy’s.com.

| Homecoming/Family Weekend |

In the fall, Homecoming/Family Weekend gives alumni, families and friends a chance to savor everything Cazenovia and provides the opportunity to celebrate during a variety of receptions, the Student Leadership Dinner, and the Blue & Gold Dinner, which features the annual Wildcats Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Did You Know... During Homecoming/Family Weekend, all are encouraged to show school spirit for Cazenovia College, with related contests sponsored by various student groups.

| House Mother |

House Mother" graces the miniature quadrangle of Watts Hall. Given in memory of Margaret “Peg” Rickett, this sculpture was created by Dorothy Riester, adjunct instructor in design and ceramics (1965-1970). "House Mother" has been in residence at Cazenovia College since June 22, 2002.
Did You Know...Peg Rickett was the house mother of Watts Hall from 1971-1990. The sculpture commemorates Peg’s service to generations of Cazenovia College students.

| Jazz n' Caz |

Over the years, Jazz ‘N Caz has hosted a variety of illustrious jazz and blues musicians, including: Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Jane Monheit Quartet, Vince Giorgano & the Nighthawks, Brubeck Institute Quintet, Jimmy Johnson Chicago Blues Band, Morgan Street Stompers, 10th Mountain Division Army Jazz Band, Eddie Condon Band, Papa Henry & the Steamin’ Syncopators, Los Blancos, Da Flo Jo, J.T. Hall Jazz Consort, Ronnie Leigh Jazz Quartet, Bear Cat Jass Band, Johnny Russo Quartet, Colleen Pratt & Friends, Laurel Masse, Jon-Erik Kellso, Melba Moore and New Orleans greats Jack Maheu and Henry Butler.
Did You Know...Jazz ‘N Caz first debuted at Cazenovia College in 2003.

| Move-In Day |

Every August, freshmen are treated to a virtual “welcome party” held in their honor as they join the Cazenovia College family during Move-In Day. Highlights include the Freshman Pinning Ceremony, BBQ at the President’s House, First Night Ceremony, a Challenge Course excursion, Residence Hall Olympics and, most recently, fireworks over Cazenovia Lake.
Did You Know... Every year a group of upper-class Orientation Leaders spend weeks planning and preparing for Orientation Week. Previous themes have included Cazopoly, Get A Clue, Caz Aloha and Red Carpet Welcome, all designed to welcome new students into the Cazenovia College community.

| Quad Day |

Early in the fall semester, students gather during Quad Day for an opportunity to learn more about and register to become members of student clubs and organizations. Participants are traditionally treated to a greeting by the Cazenovia College miniature horses, free popcorn from the Student Government Association and a performance by the Cazenovia College Step Team, Sistas of Step.
Did You Know... The campus is host to over 52 student clubs and organizations focusing on academics, athletics, social and political issues.

| Reunion Weekend |

Reunion Weekend brings together Cazenovia College’s most enduring traditions during this celebration of our alumni and faculty. This annual gathering in June provides a perfect opportunity to pursue cultural and social interests while reconnecting with friends. The Annual Alumni Reunion Awards Luncheon is a perennial favorite, while a variety of activities on the Quad, tours, receptions, picnics and parties are offered each year for alumni and their families to enjoy.
Did You Know... Festivities include reunion celebrations for graduating classes dating as far back as 75 years.

| Senior Week |

To celebrate the culmination of the collegiate journey at Cazenovia College, Seniors spend the final week of their college experience in a variety of memory-making activities, including the Academic Awards Dinner, Community Service Project, Omelet Breakfast, Senior Trip, Senior vs. Faculty/Staff Softball Game, and a formal Graduates Reception with their families, hosted on the lawn of the President’s home.
Did You Know...Recent Senior Week travel excursions have taken graduating classes to Alexandria Bay, N.Y., Gettysburg, Pa., and Atlantic City, N.J.

| Senior vs. Faculty/Staff Softball |

In 2003, the first Senior vs. Faculty/Staff Softball game was hosted at Cazenovia College. Since that time, graduating students and those who have worked to support them over the years have matched up to see which team claims the trophy and which team claims the “losing” brick. After the game, all are treated to a BBQ hosted by the Office of Alumni Affairs.
Did You Know... To date, the Faculty/Staff teams have claimed more victories than the graduating Senior Class teams.

| Student Leadership Dinner |

During Homecoming/Family Weekend, the Student Leadership Dinner recognizes outstanding campus student leaders and faculty. The Florence B. Crouse Award, Key to Our Success Award, Caz Can Do Award and the SGA Paw Pin are all presented during this occasion. The evening includes the induction of students into the Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Society, and one faculty member is given special recognition through the Making a Difference Award, which recognizes significant contributions to Student Development outside the classroom.
Did You Know...Faculty members honored with the Making a Difference Award include Mary Handley, Heather Kipping-Regitano, Sharon Dettmer, Barb Hager, Roxy Spano and Warren Olin-Ammentorp.

| Times and Chimes Clocktower |

Honoring Cazenovia College’s history, the Times & Chimes Clocktower memorializes the original clock that was part of Tower Hall. Built in 1852, Tower Hall served as the official entrance of the campus until 1959, when the building was destroyed by fire.
In 2002, the Times & Chimes campaign was launched when the Class of 1996, the Class of 2001 and the Alumni Association provided initial funds to support the installation of the clock and the 1824 Bell.
Did You Know... Signature bricks around the Times & Chimes walkway celebrate alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Cazenovia College.

| Wildcat Week |

Since the late 1990’s, Wildcat Week has been the ultimate student festival at Cazenovia College. Students enjoy a full-range of activities throughout the week, including Kickball, Black Light BINGO, Game Show Night, and an outdoor Drive-In Movie on the Quad. Wildcat Week culminates in a festival on the Quad with inflatable amusements, games, live music and food for all.
Did You Know... Wildcat Week initially served as the final stress-reliever before students completed the academic year.
